"On the Horizon" 16"x24", mixed media on acrylic
This canvas tells the story of the development of the small community in Florida where my family settled at the beginning of the 1900's. It was inspired by a vintage postcard taken from the mouth of the inland waterway looking at the budding city.
The canvas employs collage elements of transparencies, paper, acrylic paints, oil pastels, and vintage memorabilia. |

| Assemblages move the collage artist out of the two-dimensional box into the three-dimensional one...It allows me to tell a story on many different planes, indulges my penchant for collecting odd bits and pieces, and challenges my brain to continually think out of the box...both literally and figuratively! |
